Harriet Tubman
Uses in the Classroom: This media would be used to help students organizer their thoughts for a writing assignment or create a study guide for quizes.  Students will summarize information about a subject.  Students will be able to arrange information in logical order.  Students will be able to construct a mind map to help them organize informaiton.

Issues to Consider: Although this is a great way to create a time line being a lower elementary teacher I am not sure using it as a time line is something my students would be able to accomplish without a tremendous amount of classroom time.  However, I feel it could be used to help students organize their thought for writing or studying for a test.  Students would need extra time for research as well as assistance from the technology teacher to help with learning the technology asspect.  Students would need to be aware of copyright laws.

Photo Editing

Uses in Classroom: As I am cropping and changing the orignial picture a writing assignment popped into mind.  Students in K-12 will be able to manipulate  a photo of an event; using the cropping tool  to focus on a smaller moment happening in the photo.  Students will be able to create a story focusing on the smaller portion of the picture.  Students in upper elementary and higher will be able to manipulate additional changes to the photo assisting students with adding and changing details to their story by describing the changes.

Issues to Consider: Students must assess to the photoshop program.  Making sure students are aware of copyright laws and that they are choosing authorized photos.  Perhaps the teacher could choose several and then students can choose from those options; however this could limit creativity.  Lower elementary may need additional assistance; suggestion teaming up with the technology teacher to help teach the components of photoshop allowing classroom teacher to focus on the writing assignment or using writing buddies to help with the photo cropping.

Inforgrapic

The Math Road We Travel in Third Grade

Uses in the Classroom: My first thought when I began creating this inforgraphic was that it would be a great resource for students to use in class so they could see what goals they had accomplished and all the exciting adventures they have yet to begin.   But, the more I thought about the information as I was creating it, I thought that this would be a great tool to have displayed in my room at the beginning of the year when parents and students are coming in for meet the teacher night.  The information on this Inforgraphic is easy to read and understand allowing everyone to see and understand what goals we must accomplish in order to be successful in third grade.  I like this so much I am thinking I will create one for all subject levels as tool for students, parents and myself.

Issues to Consider: I think this would be a great way for students create and organize information they need to know for quizzes, tests and exams.  The downside to this is not everyone in our school as access to a computer outside of school.  I think grade level needs to be considered as well as the fact that students must create an account and some parents may discourage use of this tool.

Instruction video

Welcome to Division

Uses in Classroom-Thsi video will be used as a first day introduction to division.  Students will be able to define the mathmatical terms of a division equation.  Students will be able to apply gained knowledge and solve a division problem.  This video can also be used as a resource for students to refer back to whether they are at home or at school.

Issues to Consider-The video moved to fast for those students who learn better with hands on experience.  One way to solve this isssue would be to play the video and let students observe then allow students a second opportunity to observe the video with manipulatives and follow along with the video.

Digital Story

A Summer Vacation in the Forest

Uses in classroom: Students will be able to use techology to create a story.
I would use this in the classroom to help students get a better understanding of all the elements needed for a story.  This is just another innovative way for students to express themselves.

Issues to consider:  In creating this digital story myself.  I had many questions so I feel that this would be a teaching tool that would be better used with upper elementary and higher.  As always with technology the availabilty of a computer for students can cause issues.

How to sign in to xtramath account

Uses in the classroom: Students will be able to duplicate technology skills shown in tutorial.  Students will be able to use this website to develop fluency in math.
This tutorial is intended to walk students through the process of logging into their xtramath.org account.  xtramath.org is a website used to help students build their fluency with basic math facts.  Students are given a certain amount of time to answer questions correctly, these math problems are repeated until the student can anwer them fluently and accurately.
Once they have mastered their addition then the program will begin working on subtraction, then mulitplication and finally division.  This is a great website at it can be used at school and at home.  It allows teachers to print of letters to send home to parents with the information students will need to log into their account.  I would also place the link for this tutorial on my webpage for parents to watch to help them at home.

Issues to consider: Students will need access to a computer.   Students will need to remember or have on hand teachers email address, their registered name and their four digit pin number.

Assignment: Talking Foto
Activity:  Using a personal photo students will write a short story using a lead we have studied and then they will record their story on their fotobabble.
Objective:  Students will be able to use a story lead to create a short story.  Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of digital media.
Difficulties with projects: Lack of required technology.  Check with technology department to make sure equipment is available.  Prior to recording their story students will need to have their story written.  There is a time limit for the recording so students must keep their sotry at or under one minute.
